About the house

A home for handwoven stories.

01 — Our journey

The founders behind Looms & Tales.

Dr. Madhumita Panda

A researcher and emerging entrepreneur with a deep appreciation for India's handloom heritage, Madhumita combines cultural storytelling, creative vision, and a passion for sustainable craftsmanship. Dedicated to preserving traditional weaving practices, she works closely with artisan communities to bring authentic Indian handlooms to contemporary and international audiences.

Together with her team, she founded Looms & Tales, the premium brand of Tantagatha Textiles Private Limited, with a vision to support and uplift India's highly skilled artisan and weaving communities by connecting their handcrafted work to markets that truly value craftsmanship, heritage, and fair livelihoods.

As the world moves toward more conscious living, we believe handcrafted textiles represent not only timeless artistry, but also a responsible choice for the future.

02 — Craft & sourcing

Craft and sourcing.

India is home to hundreds of weaving and natural dyeing traditions shaped across generations. Today, these handcrafted textiles are finding renewed relevance worldwide among boutiques, designers, and contemporary lifestyle spaces seeking authenticity and meaningful production.

At Looms & Tales, we work closely with artisan clusters across India to help bring these traditions into contemporary contexts with care and integrity. From sourcing and development to quality checks and production coordination, we simplify access while remaining deeply conscious of the people, processes, and inherited knowledge behind every textile.

03 — The hands behind the weave

A house built with women-led artisan groups.

We collaborate with self-help groups and weaver families across Odisha — sharing design briefs, paying fairly, and building the kind of long, steady relationships that handloom needs to survive.
